Vittal SI suspended for demanding bribe

Vittal, June 11, 2025: The District Superintendent of Police has suspended Vittal SI Kaushik BC on the charges of demanding cash from an accused in a case of gambling.

The SI had raided a place following a tip off that gambling activity was underway. However those engaged in gambling had managed to flee. Police had seized a bike from the spot. The SI had later summoned the bike owner to the station and reportedly placed demand for cash through a third person. The conversation had gone viral. The SP in an order has suspended him from service pending departmental disciplinary action.
