Vitla police constable arrested for allegedly helping Bangladeshi national obtain passport

Bantwal, December 23, 2025: A staff member of the Vitla Police Station has been arrested on charges of allegedly helping a suspected Bangladeshi national obtain an Indian passport.

The arrested person has been identified as Police Constable Pradeep. He is accused of assisting a suspected Bangladeshi national, identified as Shaktidas, in securing a passport. The arrest was made based on a complaint filed by fellow constable Sabi Mirji of the same police station.

According to sources, Shaktidas’s passport application had earlier been rejected by Sabi Mirji. However, it is alleged that Constable Pradeep helped him when Sabi Mirji was away on official duty. Constable Pradeep has now been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
