Vitla: Bike-borne thief snatches gold chain from child in broad daylight, escapes

Vitla, Apr 13, 2026: A daylight theft was reported at Kodapadavu Madaka in Vitla Padnuru village, where an unidentified man on a bike snatched a gold chain from a child playing in front of a house and fled the scene.

According to reports, the child of a local resident was playing outside the house when a man arrived on a motorcycle at high speed, snatched the gold chain from the child’s neck, and escaped.

The entire incident was captured on a nearby supermarket’s CCTV camera. The recurrence of theft cases in the area has caused serious concern among residents. Earlier incidents included house break-ins and theft of gold ornaments, arecanut, and gas cylinders. The latest act of directly targeting a child has heightened fear among parents.

Locals have urged the Vitla police to act swiftly and take strict legal action against the culprit.
