Vitla: 53-year-old man arrested for sexually harassing, threatening minor boy

Vitla, Aug 19, 2026: Vitla police have arrested a 53-year-old man for allegedly sexually harassing and threatening a minor boy. The accused was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

The accused has been identified as Umesh (53), a resident of Kondagai in Vitla.

According to the complaint, the boy was travelling by bus from Alike towards Puttur on August 15 when an unidentified man sat beside him and allegedly behaved inappropriately with him during the journey. The accused allegedly later went to the boy’s house, sexually harassed him and threatened him.

A case has been registered at Vitla Police Station under Section 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Following an investigation, Vitla police arrested the accused and produced him before the court. The court subsequently remanded him to judicial custody.
