
Mangalore, Aug 10, 2013 : Interrogations of the five persons who surrendered and were subsequently arrested in the Vikranth Shetty murder case, have revealed that it was a revenge killing.The arrested namely Sharan (32), Rajesh (26), Yashwanth (35), Sampath (29) and Naveen (25) were produced before the court on August 9, Friday.
If two of the accused Sharan and Yashwanth had a soft drink business, Sampath did roof centring works while Naveen and Rajesh were painters.
The murder had taken place on the night of August 5 when Vikranth was returning home from work. The accused who came by a car hit the bike of Vikranth and then attacked him when he was thrown off guard.
Though initially, the police suspected this to be a case of accident, the cuts in the body revealed that it was a murder. The police have now also seized the sword and the car used by the assailants in executing the murder.
The prime accused Sharan and the victim Vikranth had a fight in 2006 in a bar in Mangalore. It is learnt, Sharan had attacked Vikranth who tried to stop the fight and in defence Vikranth too had hit Sharan’s head with a stone. It is learnt, following this Sharan had to be hospitalized and had to spend heavily on treatment.
It is learnt, Sharan was waiting for an opportune time to avenge the attack and finished off Vikranth recently.
