Vijayapura–Mangaluru train service regularized after years of demand: MP Capt Brijesh Chowta

Mangaluru, June 28, 2025: The long-standing demand to regularize the Vijayapura–Mangaluru Central train has finally been met. MP Capt Brijesh Chowta announced the development on Twitter, confirming the official regularization of the train service.

Train number 17377 will now run regularly from Vijayapura to Mangaluru Central, departing at 3:00 pm and arriving at 9:50 am the following day. In the reverse direction, train number 17378 will leave Mangaluru Central at 4:45 pm and reach Vijayapura at 11:15 am the next day.

Capt Chowta stated that the move will greatly benefit passengers travelling between the two cities, including patients from North Karnataka seeking treatment in Mangaluru, students studying in the coastal region, and daily commuters.

He also extended his gratitude to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State V Somanna for their support in making the service permanent.

The train had been a long-pending demand for over five years and had been operating on a temporary basis since December 1, 2021.
