Veteran scholar Perla Krishna Bhat no more

 Perla, Sep 3, 2013 : Well-known scholar, orator, teacher, Yakshagana artiste Vidwan Perla S Krishna Bhat (90), who was popularly known as Perla Panditaru, passed away  at his residence here on September 2 afternoon. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.


perla krishna 1A multi-faceted personality, Perla Krishna Bhat  was born at Padre   on May 16, 1923. He had secured the Vidwan title in Sanskrit, Rashtra Bhasha Praveena in Hindi and had studied upto intermediate in English medium.  He had served as a Hindi Teacher for over 30 years at the Perla Sri Satyanarayana High School.

Also a well known Yakshagana artiste, his roles as  Krishna,Rama, Vibhishana and Brahannale had been widely acclaimed. He was also a versatile writer  who had  authored  several works including  Paaduka Pradana (Drama),  Talamaddale (Skit),  Bhagavan Parashurama (Translation),  Jaathre mattu ithara Kathegalu(translation), Bhagavan Budda (Biography),  Mahabharatha Upakhyanagalu ( collection of stories) etc.

Some of his works have even been  prescribed as text books.
