Veteran Harikatha artiste Santh Bhadragiri Achyutdas no more

Udupi, oct 23, 2013 :  Veteran Harikatha and Sankeerthana artiste Santh Bhadragiri Achyutdas(83) passed away following a  cardiac arrest at his residence at Rajajinagar in Bangalore on October 22, Tuesday. He was ailing since some time.

Achyutdas who hailed from Brahmavar near Udupi  had moved to Bangalore in 1958. He was the Honorary President of  Keerthana Kala Parishat.

He was well versed in Tulu, Kannada, Konkani and Marathi and used to conduct programmes in these languages effortlessly.

He along with his late brother Bhadragiri Keshav Das used to organize conventions to popularize Sankeerthana and Harikathas.Santh Bhadragiri Achyutdas was also a Yakshagana artiste.

He had won several awards including Kannada Rajyotsava Award, Kanaka Purandara Award, Paryaya Prashasthi among others.

Several leaders and religious personalities have condoled the death of Santh Bhadragiri Achyutdas.
