Venur: Minor girl sexually abused, resulting in pregnancy; accused arrested

Belthangadi, May 07, 2025: A shocking case of repeated sexual assault on a minor girl, leading to her pregnancy, has surfaced under the jurisdiction of the Venur police station. The survivor has filed a formal complaint against the accused, identified as Sanath (28), a resident of Shirlalu village.

According to the complaint, Sanath, who worked as a driver, frequently visited the girl’s house along with her father and allegedly developed an inappropriate relationship with the minor. The abuse reportedly began on the night of the girl’s birthday, when Sanath stayed over at the residence. He is accused of entering her room while she was asleep and sexually assaulting her.

Police investigations reveal that Sanath continued to visit the house at night, repeatedly assaulting the minor, which ultimately resulted in her pregnancy. Following the traumatic ordeal, the survivor and her family approached the Venur police, leading to the registration of a case.

The accused has been charged under Sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act and Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 (Crime No. 41/2025). Authorities are conducting further investigations to ensure justice for the survivor.
