Venoor cracker unit explosion case: Owner arrested

Venoor, Jan 29, 2024: Police have arrested the owner of a crackers manufacturing  unit at Kadtyaru near Goliyangady in Kukkedy GP limits  in connection with the explosion at the unit on Sunday which claimed the lives of three people.

 

The arrested person is Sayyed Basheer. An FIR has been lodged against him based on the complaint filed by a person in Venoor police station. He was arrested at Sullia where he had fled after the explosion and is being questioned.

It may be recalled here there workers had died in the explosion following which the owner and other workers had fled.

Basheer had used a shed in his plantation to manufacture the explosives without any precautionary measures.
