Vande Bharat Express likely from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, Udupi and Karwar

Udupi, December 13, 2025: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that steps will be taken to operate the Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, Udupi and Karwar after the completion of electrification works in the ghat section, in the interest of railway passengers in coastal Karnataka.

Udupi–Chikkamagaluru MP Kota Srinivas Poojary met the Union Railway Minister in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum, highlighting the need to introduce a Vande Bharat train on this route.

The MP pointed out that the electrification works in the Hassan and Sakleshpur sections are nearing completion and that this is an appropriate time to connect Bengaluru with the coastal districts through the Vande Bharat service.

Responding to the representation, the Railway Minister said that once electrification of the Sakleshpur ghat section is completed, train services from Bengaluru to Karwar will be improved and proposals to introduce a Vande Bharat train on this route will be considered.
