Mangalore, Nov 15, 2012: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal (BD) organized a massive protest rally against cow slaughter from Jyothi Circle to the DC’s office on Nov 15, Thursday.
Delivering the protest address in front of the DC’s office, Kateel Dinesh Pai, VHP’s division cow protection head, said that this protest rally is the VHP’s first step in their fight against cow slaughter.
Stating that the district administration and the police department can easily deal with crimes against cows using the Anti Cow Slaughter Act, he said that they have not done so. Cow slaughter cases are dealt just like any other case, he said, adding that the VHP and the BD will not allow the government to discriminate against Hinduism.
Sharan Pumpwell, convener of Bajrang Dal, said that the VHP and the BD has appealed to the government several times to implement the anti cow slaughter bill and prevent illegal transportation of cows and cow slaughter, but nothing has been done so far. He said that, although Hindu organizations had organized a communal harmony meeting with Muslim leaders to urge them not to slaughter cows, they still continue to do so. He also stated that it is shameful that some anti-patriotic Hindu organizations are supporting cow slaughter and Love Jihad.
Taking a dig at the Popular Front of India (PFI), he said that the PFI recently organized an awareness campaign to make the public aware of their objective, but the only objective of the PFI is to support Love Jihad and cow slaughter.
He warned cow slaughterers that Hindus will have to use the same weapons used to kill cows for their protection if they continue slaughtering cows. He also urged police officers to allow VHP and BD activists to raid slaughter houses and stop cow slaughter if they have no time and courage to do the same.
Speaking on the occasion, VHP Vice President M. B. Puranik said that Mahatma Gandhi had struggled to stop cow slaughter, but his efforts went in vain. Stating that the information that people used to eat beef during the Vedic times is false, he said that the pro-Hindu outfits will fight for justice.
Shree Rajashekarananda Swamiji of Vajradehi Mutt in Gurpur, Vedamurthy Kuntaru Shree Ravish Tantri, M. B. Puranik, and others addressed the gathering. Ulipadiguttu Rajesh Nayak presided.
