
Mangalore, Nov 6, 2012: Usman, proprietor of China Crackers World, announced at a press meet held today that he will distribute 1.5 lakh books on Tulu script among the general public.
Usman of Kasargod has been running his crackers business on Bibi Alabi Road in Mangalore from the past 12 years. Since his business brought him closer to the Tulu-speaking populace, he grew fond of the language and decided to distribute books on Tulu script free of cost.
The books, the printing of which cost Rs. 3.5 lakh, will be distributed among Tulu speaking people on the occasion of public functions. The printing funds were donated by local friends of Mr. Usman as well as the crackers companies of Shivakashi.
Usman also plans to hold competitions for school children before Deepavali.
