Puttur, Nov 8, 2025: The Uppinangady Police have arrested a man accused of submitting forged documents to a court to fraudulently secure bail for an accused person.
According to the police, the accused had produced a fake RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops certificate) belonging to a Puttur resident and presented it before the Principal District and Sessions Court, Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru, misrepresenting it as his own property document. Using this falsified record, he managed to obtain bail for another accused in a case, thereby deceiving the court.
Following the discovery of the fraud, a case was registered at Uppinangady Police Station under Sections 417, 419, 467, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for cheating, impersonation, and forgery.
During the course of investigation, the police identified the accused as Abdul Hasheem (34), resident of Paduvannur village, Puttur. He had allegedly created forged documents, faked signatures, and submitted a false security document to the court with an intention to cheat.
The police arrested Abdul Hasheem and produced him before the court. The court has remanded him in judicial custody.
