Uppinangady: College student killed, pillion rider injured in lorry collision

Uppinangady, Apr 30, 2026: A 23-year-old college student was killed on the spot after a lorry collided with a two-wheeler near Neerkatte in Bajathur village on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Karthik, who was riding the two-wheeler. His pillion rider, Neha, also a college student, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

The accident occurred while a group of students from the Government First Grade College in Uppinangady were returning on two-wheelers after attending a wedding of an acquaintance. Due to the impact of the collision, Karthik was thrown onto the road and succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

A case has been registered at the Puttur Traffic Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
