University College observes World Population Day

Mangalore, July 26, 2012: Addressing the gathering after inaugurating a program held at Ravindra Kala Bhavan as part of World Population Day today, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel stated that population control is possible only through public awareness.

The MP also voiced his opinion that, although India has a serious overpopulation problem, the youth population of the country is on the rise, which is good for the country.

Speaking on the occasion, District RCH Officer Dr. Rukmini M. said that, if the population continues to grow at this rate, Karnataka’s current population of 6 crore 11 lakh will swell to 12 crore 45 lakh in the next 45 years.

The organizers distributed prizes among students of University College who had won essay and elocution competitions held as part of World Population Day.

DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda and DK ZP Vice President Dhanalaxmi Janardhan were also present.
