Unity College of Physiotherapy opens new OPD facility in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, September 10, 2026: The newly established Outpatient Department (OPD) block of the Unity College of Physiotherapy was inaugurated at the college campus on Dambel Road, Mangaluru, on Thursday.
The facility was formally inaugurated by Dr. Vaishali Sreejith, PT, Principal of MV Shetty College of Physiotherapy and Senate Member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), in the presence of Ganesh Kulal, former corporator of Mangaluru City Corporation, Dr. C.P. Habeeb Rahman, Chairman of Unity Academy of Education, and other academicians.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Vaishali Sreejith highlighted the growing importance of physiotherapy in the healthcare sector and the increasing global demand for trained physiotherapists.
“It is the need of the hour to establish OPD facilities in the city to cater to the needs of a large number of patients requiring physiotherapy,” she said. She added that the facility would also provide students with an opportunity to gain first-hand clinical training on campus.
Dr. Vaishali noted that there were relatively few dedicated physiotherapy facilities in the city and appreciated the management of Unity College of Physiotherapy for taking the initiative to establish the OPD.
Dr. C.P. Habeeb Rahman expressed his happiness over the opening of the new facility and highlighted the institution’s long-standing contribution to healthcare education and the growing significance of allied health sciences.
He said the new OPD would serve the public while simultaneously providing physiotherapy students with valuable practical exposure and hands-on clinical experience.
The OPD will offer physiotherapy services for a range of conditions, including sports injuries, back pain, stroke rehabilitation, posture-related problems, post-surgical rehabilitation, shoulder and knee conditions, and mobility-related issues.
Dr Shareef M, PT, head of the Department of Physiotherapy, and Dr Sangeetha P, PT, principal, along with staff and students, were present at the programme.
