Unique jugalbhandi forms part of Ragha Sudha Rasa 2012

Mangalore, Jan 10, 2012 : Rafique Khan and Nagesh A. Bappanadu presented a unique jugalbhandi, during which the audience was treated to the melodious sounds of the sitar and the nagaswara at Ravindra Kalabhavan on Monday.

The jugalbhandi was organized jointly by the Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan, the Manikrishnaswami Academy, and the Department of Kannada and Culture as part of Ragha Sudha Rasa 2012, a 4-day musical event.

Nagesh Bappanadu began the jugalbandhi by presenting a piece of the darbara raga, and Rafique Khan responded with a piece in Pooria Dhanashri on his sitar.

The other artists in the team were Aroor Ananthakrishna Sharma on the mridanga, S. Karthik on the ghata, and D. K. Suresh on the thavil.

Before the presentation, Mr. Bappanadu and his wife Shrilatha were felicitated in the presence of Kadri Gopalanath and T. C. Shivashankar Murthy, the vice chancellor of Mangalore University. The artiste also received a number of garlands from his admirers.
