Ullal: Verbal war between BJP workers- cops after police officer allegedly manhandles Yuva Morcha leader

Mangaluru, June 20, 2024: A protest by the Mangaluru Mandal BJP unit beneath the Thokkottu junction flyover on June 20, Thursday opposing the fuel price hike by the state government resulted in a heated altercation between the BJP workers and the local police after a Yuva Morcha leader was allegedly manhandled by Ullal Station House Officer H N Balakrishna.

It is alleged that the police officer manhandled Murali Konaje, President of the BJP Mangaluru Mandala Yuva Morcha after the latter reportedly tried to obstruct traffic on the highway.

After a protest meeting, BJP workers tried to block traffic on the Highway when the Ullal Station House Officer intercepted. It is said at this juncture Murali Konaje rushed to the middle of the highway to block traffic when the police officer reportedly grabbed his collar and moved him to the roadside.

This followed a heated exchange of words between cops and the BJP workers prompting ACP Ravish Naik to intervene and calm down the situation.
