Udupi to have state-of-the-art new RTO building

Mangalore, Oct 4, 2011 : The new RTO office, worth around Rs. 4.95 crore, will be constructed soon in front of the district complex at Manipal End Point.

RtoCurrently, vehicle owners and drivers are required to drive their vehicles on the state highway in front of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Adi Udupi, but this practice will be stopped when the RTO gets a new office with a driving track for driving tests.

All these years, the transport department managed without a building of its own, but its new building will be dome-shaped and will have a mini auditorium. Sprawling over an area of 2,984.10sq.ft, this structure will be constructed by the Karnataka Housing Board.

The construction work began in March this year and will be complete in Dec 2012.

However, the driving track meant for driving tests for license seekers will be sufficient only for two-wheelers owing to lack of space unless the RTO identifies and acquires some more land in the vicinity.
