Udupi, Aug 07, 2020: State Home Minister and Udupi District in-charge Minister Basavaraj Bommai has directed the administration to immediately distribute compensation to all those affected by floods and rain related calamity in the district.
The Home Minister had a video conference with Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh on Thursday in view of the district experiencing heavy rains since the past few days. The Minister said all those who suffered damage should get preliminary compensation immediately and directed to upload details pertaining to damage of houses in the Rajeev Gandhi Housing Corporation portal the very same day.
With regard to damage to crops, the minister said teams comprising revenue, agricultural officials and PDOs must be formed in every taluk to gather details so that measures could be taken to provide compensation.
Udupi Deputy Commissioner informed the minister that a total of 116 houses have been partially damaged while two houses were completely damaged in the district. He also said 26 villages which may likely experience floods have been identified and all precautionary measures are being taken.
ZP CEO Preethi Gehlot, SP Vishnuvardhan, ADC Sadashiva Prabhu and others were present.
