Udupi police arrest man absconding for 23 years

Udupi, Apr 16, 2026: A man who had been absconding for 23 years without appearing before the court in connection with a case under Malpe Police Station limits has been arrested by police.

The accused has been identified as M. Babu (52), a resident of Shivanagar in Bengaluru. Acting under the leadership of Malpe Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar D., police had been making efforts for the past five months, gathering information about his whereabouts.

Based on credible inputs, police personnel Suresh Kumar and Vishwanath H.A. traced and arrested the accused on April 14 in Ramamurthy Nagar, Bengaluru. He was produced before the court on April 15 and has been remanded to judicial custody until April 28.
