Udupi gets Rs 21 crores as flood relief

Udupi, Oct 24, 2020:    The state government has released a special grant of Rs 21 crores to Udupi district  to undertake relief works in the backdrop of the huge damage caused   during last month’s heavy rains and floods. The district administration had earlier appealed to the state government for a grant of Rs 40 crores.

Last month’s floods has damaged nearly 4,000 houses in the district, Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha said adding a sum of Rs 10,000 as immediate compensation will be provided. He said that this alone would account to Rs 4 crores.

In the event of  extensive damage   there is provision to get upto Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 50,000 in case of minor damages. The state government’s assistance would also be used to repair roads, Anganavadi and school buildings which have been damaged.
