The call for bundh was accepted in a favourable manner as buses refused to ply, shops were shut down, and other establishments refused to function. The bundh was both peaceful and successful. Since transport unions supported the cause, vehicles refused to ply along the district’s major roads.

Even the fishing community extended its supports, with fishermen in Padubidri, Yermal, Muloor, Ucchil, and Kaup taking a day off work.

However, ambulance services were available and milk and newspapers were supplied as usual.

The police had beefed up security in the district to maintain law and order.
