
Udupi, March 9, 2026: Two individuals have been arrested by Shirva police in connection with the illegal transportation of narcotic substances. The arrests were made at Chandranagar Janata Colony in Padur village.
The arrested accused have been identified as Zahir Ahmed (66), a resident near the Dargah in Belapu village, and Syed Shameem (28), a resident of Belapu Study Circle. From their possession, police seized 2.83 grams of the narcotic substance MDMA, along with a mobile phone and a car.
Acting on information that narcotics were being illegally transported in a car, the police intercepted and stopped the vehicle. During the inspection, they discovered the narcotic substance being transported. Following this, the two individuals in the car were taken into custody.
The operation was carried out by the Shirva Police Station team, including SI Manjunath Marabada and SI Lohith Kumar, along with station staff and crime investigation officers. The action was conducted under the guidance of Karkala DySP Vijay Prasad and Kapu Circle Inspector Azmath Ali, as directed by Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar and Additional SP Sudhakar S. Nayak.
