Udupi: Two arrested for illegal cattle transportation

Udupi, May 7, 2026: Police arrested two persons for allegedly transporting cattle illegally in a goods vehicle near the Pakkalu Hebbaru bridge in Hiriyadka.

The accused have been identified as Suhas (21) and Lava Shetty (64).

According to police, the duo was transporting four cattle in a tempo goods vehicle from Perdoor towards Hiriyadka, allegedly for slaughter at an abattoir. Near the Pakkalu Hebbaru bridge, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid into a roadside drain.

Police rushed to the spot, apprehended the accused, and rescued the cattle. The vehicle and cattle were seized, and a case has been registered at the Hiriyadka police station.
