Udupi: Three arrested with MDMA, hydro ganja worth Rs 3.31 lakh

Udupi, July 20, 2026: Udupi police have arrested three persons for allegedly possessing and selling banned narcotic substances to the public in the Udupi, Kaup, Manipal and Karkala areas.

The accused have been identified as Vijay Poojary (36) of Pithrody, Udyavara, P.A. Mohammed Sammas (24) of Kukkundoor, and Akash Shetty (20) of Miyaru in Karkala.


Ganja

Police seized MDMA powder, hydro ganja, MDMA tablets, ganja, and a car allegedly used for transporting the narcotics. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 3.31 lakh.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Division DYSP Belliyappa K.U. and led by Malpe Police Inspector Ramachandra Nayak.

Acting on credible information that the accused were storing and selling narcotic substances to the public from a location in Shivalli village, the police conducted a raid and arrested the trio.

During the raid, police recovered 4 grams of MDMA powder, 2.5 grams of hydro ganja, 3.65 grams of MDMA tablets, 3 grams of ganja, a car allegedly used for transporting the drugs, and other related materials. The total value of the seized property is estimated at Rs 3.31 lakh.

A case has been registered at the Udupi Town Police Station under Sections 8(c), 20(c), and 22(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The accused will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings.

The operation involved PSI Mahesh T.M. of Udupi Traffic Police Station, Praveen Kumar of the Cyber Crime Police Station, Praveen Shettigar of Hiriyadka Police Station, and police personnel Indresh, Hanumanth Aski, Manu Kumar, Rashmi Hegde, Ravi Kumar, Srinivas, Santosh, and Dinesh.
