Udupi: Tamil Nadu man arrested for attempted murder at Padubidri bar

Udupi, Jul 21, 2025: Padubidri police have arrested Alagesh, a native of Tamil Nadu, for attempting to murder a man during a drunken altercation at Gloria Bar in Kanjarkatte, under the Padubidri police station limits. The arrest took place in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

The incident occurred on July 15 when Satish Acharya of Santoor was drinking at Gloria Bar with his friends Narasimha and Karthik. During their gathering, Alagesh entered the bar and began verbally abusing Narasimha with vulgar language. When Satish intervened and pushed him out of the bar cabin, Alagesh, infuriated, accused Satish of siding with Narasimha and threatened to kill him. He then attacked Satish with a knife, stabbing him in the head and abdomen in a brutal attempt to take his life.


Attempt murder


Following the assault, Alagesh fled to his native place in Tamil Nadu. A case was registered at the Padubidri police station based on a complaint filed by the seriously injured Satish Acharya.

Acting on the orders of Udupi District Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, and under the guidance of Additional SP Sadananda S Naik and Parameshwar Hegde, a special police team was constituted. The team was led by Dr Harsha Priyamvada, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Karkala sub-division, and Kapu Circle Inspector Jayashree Mane, along with Padubidri PSI Saktivelu (KAS), ASI Rajesh P, and constables Sandesh Kumar and Sharan Putran.

The team conducted an extensive search across Erode, Salem, and Krishnagiri districts in Tamil Nadu and successfully tracked down and apprehended Alagesh. He was later produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.
