Udupi: Schools, PU colleges, ITIs and anganwadis to remain closed on Aug 19 due to heavy rain

Udupi, Aug 19, 2025: The Udupi district administration has declared a holiday on Tuesday, August 19, for all educational institutions, including Anganwadis, schools, PU colleges, and ITIs, following heavy rainfall and a red alert for the region.

Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T. K. announced that the decision was taken to ensure the safety of students, as the district continues to experience intense downpours.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for August 19, predicting extremely heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Udupi district.

Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel.
