Udupi : Rousing Reception for Spl Olympics gold winner Sunitha Lobo

 Udupi, Feb 9, 2013  : A rousing reception was accorded to Sunitha Lobo, an inmate of  Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre,  Pamboor, on her arrival here on February 9, Saturday, after winning gold medal  as part of the 11 member Indian floor-hockey team  at the Special Olympics World Winter Games held in Pyeongchang, South Korea recently.

Several had gathered at the Katapady bus stand where she landed on Saturday. Upendra Nayak, Udupi ZP President and several leaders including ZP  members Ida Gibba D’Souza, Githanjali Suvarna, former TP president Devadas Hebbar, Nagarika Samithi Secretary Nityananda Olakadu welcomed Sunitha by garlanding her.  A large number of students were also present.


Sunitha was taken in a procession in a special vehicle to the Manasa Centre . Several students from Pamboor church school,  Narayana Guru English Medium School, inmates of Manasa Centre and several others were part of the procession.


Later, a felicitation function was held at Manasa Centre where Fr Charles Lewis, Parish Priest of Pamboor Holy Cross Church, honoured Sunitha. The golden girl who spoke  on the occasion, said she and her team gave their best performance despite the freezing cold conditions at South Korea.


 Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, former minister Vasanth Salian,  William Machado, Catholic Sabha Udupi Zonal President,  Remedia D’Souza, President of Manasa Trust, St Thelma, Principal of Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre,  Elroy Kiran Crasto, State President of All India Christian Union President and others were present.
