Udupi : Mooru Theru Utsav celebrated at Sri Krishna Mutt on Makara Sankranthi

 Udupi, Jan15,2013: An attractive Mooru Theru Utsava was celebrated at Sri Krishna Mutt Udupi on the night of January 14, Monday under the leadership of Sri Vishwavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Sode Vadiraja Mutt, on the auspicious occasion of Makara Sankranthi.

This is the sixth day’s  programme at the Mutt as part of Saptotsava. Thousands of devotees witnessed the great spectacle.


The Brahmaratha used for the Mooru Theru Utsava  is the one that has been reconstructed at a cost of Rs 1.30 crores. The Brahmaratha was dedicated to Lord Krishna to coincide with the Lord’s ascending of the Chariot (Ratharohana).


Lord Krishna was taken around the Carstreet in the Brahmaratha, while Lord Anantheshwara and Chandramouleshwara    were taken around in the Garuda Ratha and Lord Mukhyaprana in the Chikka Ratha.


Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, Sri Vishwa Prasanna Theertha Swamiji , junior swamiji and others were present.


Theppotsava was also performed for Lord Krishna and Mukhyaprana at the illuminated Madhwa Sarovar.  Slogans praising the lord were raised by the devotees when all the three chariots stood on a single line to the south of Carstreet, There was also an attractive fireworks show.


Choornotsava will be held at the Sri Krishna Mutt on January 15, Tuesday.
