Udupi : Missing fisherman found dead, electrocution suspected

Udupi, Feb 11, 2013  : A fishermen who was reported missing  from Hejamadi Kodi in November last year, has been found dead. His skeletal remains have been found in a field on February 10, Sunday.

 

As a broken electricity  wire  found under the body, has given room for suspicion that Mohammad alias Dada Mohammad (65) after he came into contact with the live wire when he had been to the fields to close the pump.

It may be mentioned here that soon after he went missing there were widespread speculations that he might have been kidnapped and murdered.

The body was identified by the daughter of the deceased on the basis of the clothes. Padubidri police have registered a case. A forensic report is expected after which the cause of the death could be ascertained.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that the MESCOM had failed to undertake repair despite a snapped electricity wire remaining unattended since a couple of months.
