Udupi: Manipal Police crack bike theft case in 11 hours; two habitual offenders arrested

Udupi, Feb 25, 2026: The Manipal police solved a motorcycle theft case within 11 hours of registering the complaint and arrested two habitual offenders.

According to the police, on February 21 at around 9 am, Sudarshan had parked his Bajaj Pulsar (KA-20-ED-6912) near Veera Maruti Bhajana Mandir at Rahulnagar in 80 Badagubettu village under Manipal police limits before heading to work nearby. When he returned, the motorcycle was missing.

Theft accused


He lodged a complaint at the Manipal police station on February 23 at about 8 am.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered in Crime No. 28/2026 under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Acting swiftly, the police traced the accused and arrested them within 11 hours of registering the case.

The arrested have been identified as Sharath (26) and Ganesh (31), both residents of Netajinagar in 80 Badagubettu village, Udupi taluk.

The stolen Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number KA-20-ED-6912 was recovered from their possession.

Both accused were produced before the jurisdictional court and remanded to judicial custody.

Police said the duo are habitual offenders and are allegedly involved in more than 11 theft cases registered at Manipal, Udupi Town, Bhadravati, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Madikeri and Tumakuru Extension police stations.
