Udupi: Man booked for threatening BLO, obstructing SIR electoral roll revision

Udupi, Jul 29, 2026: The Kota police have registered a case against a man for allegedly obstructing a Booth Level Officer (BLO) from carrying out her official duties, verbally abusing her, and issuing death threats during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls.

According to the police, the complainant, Amita (50), is an Anganwadi worker serving as a Booth Level Officer for the SIR exercise. She is a resident of Shiriyara village in Brahmavar.

The incident allegedly took place at the Village Administrative Officer’s office in Shiriyara, where Amita was engaged in official SIR-related work.

In her complaint, Amita stated that Sudheendra Shetty entered the office and demanded to see the list prepared for the inclusion and deletion of names in the electoral rolls. He allegedly questioned why the name of Chandrashekara Shetty, also known as Sheenappa Shetty of Nayakara Mane, had been recommended for deletion and asked who had authorised the decision.

The complainant further alleged that the accused verbally abused her in obscene language, snatched and pulled the SIR-related records and documents she was handling, obstructed her from performing her official duties, and threatened to kill her.

Based on the complaint, the Kota Police have registered a case under Sections 132, 74, 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
