Udupi, May 30, 2026: The Lokayukta Police conducted a surprise raid at the Udupi Urban Development Authority (UUDA) office on Friday following complaints that hundreds of files had been kept pending without valid reasons.
The raid commenced around 3 p.m. under the leadership of Lokayukta DySP Hala Moorthi Rao. The operation involved two inspectors and 16 personnel, with officials continuing their inspection late into the night.
According to the complaints received, several files that should normally have been processed within 15 to 20 days had remained pending for prolonged periods. During the inspection, Lokayukta officials reportedly identified more than 200 files that had been left unattended without justification.
Officials suspect that the delays may have been linked to demands for bribes or other undisclosed reasons. A detailed investigation has been initiated to ascertain why such a large number of files were kept pending and whether there was any ulterior motive behind the delays.
DySP Hala Moorthi Rao said the inquiry is ongoing and added that the Lokayukta operation is likely to continue on Saturday as well.
