Udupi: Leopard dies after collision with bike; rider seriously injured

Udupi, Oct 23, 2025: A leopard died and a motorcyclist was seriously injured after the animal suddenly came in front of a moving bike at Nanchur in Nalkur Gram Panchayat limits of Brahmavar taluk.

The injured has been identified as Nanchur resident Bhaskar Shetty. According to reports, Bhaskar Shetty was returning home on his bike late at night when a leopard suddenly crossed the road. Unable to control the vehicle, he collided with the leopard, causing the bike to overturn.

The impact left the leopard dead on the spot, while Bhaskar Shetty sustained serious injuries. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials from the Hebri Forest Department visited the scene and inspected the dead leopard. A case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana Police Station.
