Udupi: Kota police arrest three in extortion and threat case

Udupi, Sep 3, 2026: Kota police have arrested three persons in connection with a case involving alleged threats, abusive language and intimidation over the storage of government-supplied rice bags on residential premises.

A case was registered at the Kota Police Station on August 31. Following the complaint, a police team launched an operation to trace the accused under the guidance of Udupi Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police Belliyappa K.U. and Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopi Krishna.

The operation was led by Kota Police Station PSIs Praveen Kumar R. (Law and Order) and Mahantesh Jabagowda (Investigation), along with police personnel Vijayendra, Sharath and Shivraj.

The accused, Nagendra Puthran, 37, a resident of Gobbarabettu in Kotathattu village, and P. Sumanth Kundar, 40, of Paramapalli Padukere in Paramapalli village, were arrested on September 2 near the Exhibition Ground opposite Mysuru Palace in Mysuru district. They were subsequently produced before the court.

Another accused, Sachin Shreeyan, 32, a resident of Mooduhadu village, was arrested on September 1 and produced before the court.

Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
