Udupi: Heavy rains cause damage to 151 electric poles

Udupi, June 11, 2024: Heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in Udupi district has uprooted as many as 151 electric poles across the district. Apart from these, nearly 20 transformers and electric cables have been damaged. The total loss to MESCOM has been estimated at Rs 25.72 lakhs.

Several low lying areas have been inundated due to heavy rains. Strong winds have uprooted a tree near the Manjunatha Eye Hospital  at Shiribeedu damaging the compound wall of a nearby house.
