Udupi, June 9, 2025: Five tourists, including four from Bengaluru and one woman from Goa, were rescued from being washed away by lifeguards in separate incidents near Gangolli beach on Sunday evening.
The revellers were reportedly being dragged to the sea by powerful waves when lifeguards sprung into action. The timely rescue act by lifeguards including Pruthviraj Oppanda and Pramod Raj Oppanda, along with beach supervisor Suresh Koderi and 24/7 ambulance team led by Ibrahim Gangolli, ensured that all five revellers were safe.
The coordinated effort by the lifeguards, medical response team, and police helped avert what could have been a tragic evening for the families frolicking at the beach. Officials have once again appealed to visitors to exercise caution while venturing near the water, especially during periods of high tide and unpredictable wave activity.
