Udupi: Fire guts hotel at Kanajarakatte, causes loss of over Rs 10 lakh

Udupi, October 10, 2026: A major fire broke out at Sri Krishna Hotel located at Kanajarakatte on the Padubidri–Karkala road, causing losses estimated at over Rs 10 lakh.

The hotel, run by the Ramdas brothers, was closed at around 8 pm on Thursday, after which they left for home. A short while later, a fire broke out on the premises and quickly spread throughout the hotel.

Local resident Ravindra Salian noticed the fire and rushed to the spot along with others to help extinguish the flames. Fire personnel from the Adani Fire Service and Karkala Fire Station arrived at the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control. Several locals, including Ganesh Shetty of Santoor, Ravindra Prabhu of Santoor and Deepak Kamath, also joined the firefighting efforts.

The intense fire completely gutted the hotel, destroying various equipment and other materials. The total loss is estimated to exceed Rs 10 lakh.
