Udupi: Fake lady doctor arrested in Paduthonse

Udupi, Jan 28, 2014: Close on the heels of the arrest of two quacks in Mangalore, Health Department officials have now arrested a fake lady doctor who was practising in Paduthonse area of Kemmannu since the past eight years.

The arrest was made during a raid on her clinic on January 27, Monday. The arrested quack is Nagaveni alias Swapna Shakeer.

It is learnt, she was running a clinic and possessed a false registration certificate. During the raid it was found that she did not have valid medical degree certificates but was still practising and prescribing medicines to patients who visited her.

 A complaint has been lodged with Malpe police by Dr Ramachandra Bairi, officer of Health and Family Development Board.
