
Udupi, Apr 3, 2026: Police in Karkala town have arrested an accused named Faizal, who had earlier been served an externment order to leave the district but had fled after evading police attempting to execute the order.
According to police, acting on directions from the Special Executive Magistrate and the Superintendent of Police, officers had gone to enforce the externment order. Upon confirming that the accused was within the Malpe police station limits, Malpe police reached near the Hoode Nagabrahma Babbu Swami Daivasthana in Paduthonse village. At that time, the accused allegedly reversed his car suddenly, crashed into a coconut tree by the roadside, and fled the scene.
The car was damaged in the incident, and a case was registered at Malpe police station. During a subsequent mahazar of the abandoned vehicle, police recovered 173.42 grams of ganja, estimated to be worth around ₹8,000, along with two mobile phones, which were seized.
Investigations revealed that Faizal, along with another accused, had been illegally possessing the contraband with intent to sell. A separate case was registered at Malpe police station in this regard.
Faizal, a resident of Banglagudde Kasaba in Karkala and accused in both cases, was later arrested by the Karkala Police Sub-Inspector and produced before the court.
