
Udupi, December 17, 2025: In connection with mobile phone theft cases reported within the limits of the Udupi City Police Station, the police traced 60 mobile phones of various companies worth ₹8.85 lakh and handed them over to their rightful owners on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Udupi Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prabhu D.T. said that complaints regarding stolen mobile phones were received at the city police station through the KSP app, following which the devices were blocked using the Government of India’s CEIR portal application.
He said that over the past three months, 60 mobile phones were traced through the CEIR portal, and their owners were called to the police station, where the recovered phones were formally handed over to them on Tuesday.
Udupi City Police Station in-charge Police Sub-Inspector Mahesh Prasad, Police Sub-Inspectors Bharatesh Kankanawadi, Eeranna Shiragumpi, Narayana B. and Gopalakrishna Jogi were present and handed over the mobile phones to the complainants.
The mobile phone tracing operation was carried out by Udupi City Police Station officials Mahesh Prasad, Bharatesh Kankanawadi, Eeranna Shiragumpi, Narayana B., Gopalakrishna Jogi, along with computer section staff CPC Vinayakumar and CPC Jaswa, Prabhu D.T. added.
