Udupi: 22-year-old dies after scooter crashes into divider at Mudrangadi

Udupi, December 27, 2025: A 22-year-old youth was killed in a road accident in the early hours of Friday, December 26, after the scooter he was riding rammed into a road divider near Mudrangadi Golikatte, within the limits of the Shirva police station.

The deceased has been identified as Joswin D’Souza, a resident of Kutyaru village.

 

According to police, Joswin was riding his scooter (KA-20 EX 4561) from Mudrangadi towards his home at around 3.15 am when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a road divider near the residence of Lawrence D’Souza.

Joswin suffered severe internal abdominal injuries in the accident. He was rushed to KMC Hospital, Manipal, where doctors declared him brought dead at 4.36 am.

Based on a complaint lodged by Lawrence D’Souza (67), the uncle of the deceased, Shirva police have registered a case and are investigating further.

Joswin was the son of late George D’Souza and Maria Tresa. He is survived by his mother and a younger sister.

The funeral will be held on Saturday. The cortege will leave the residence at 3.30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4 pm at Mudrangadi Church.
