Two persons arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old Dalit girl

Mangalore, Jul 2: The Bajpe Police arrested two persons for allegedly raping a 12-year-old Dalit girl.

The police team led by Panambur ACP Puttamadaiah arrested Manoj Shetty (33) of Kinnipadav in Bajpe and Dinesh Amin (22) of Padu Peru in Bajpe. 

 

Allegedly, the two  raped the girl last week, but the victim related the incident to her mother only a few days back. 

According to the police, Manoj Kumar kidnapped the girl when she was on her way to school and took her to his house. He also called his friend Dinesh Amin. The two then raped the girl. They also told her that they would kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone. 

The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Bajpe Police Station. The culprits fled as soon as a case was registered against them, but the police were successful in tracking them down and arresting them.
