
Mangalore, Dec 3, 2012: Two Cruise vessels M.V. Sevenseas Voyager and M.V.Seabourn Odyssey called at the New Mangalore Port on December 3, Monday. If MV. Sevenseas Voyager had 650 passengers on board and 454 crew, M.V.Seabourn Odyssey had 438 passengers and 339 crew.

This was the maiden voyage to New Mangalore Port for M.V.Seabourn Odyssey, while Sevenseas Voyager was on her 3rd voyage to Mangalore. Around 1000 passengers from the two cruise vessels went on a sightseeing tour in and around Mangalore and enjoyed the day. They visited several places of tourist importance including St Aloysius Chapel, Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple and Kadri Temple in Mangalore and Savira Kamba Basadi of Moodbidri.They even had a glimpse of the gigantic monolithic statue of Gomateshwara.
The ground tour was arranged by M/s Lia Travels. Forty buses had been pressed into service for the benefit of the tourists. The vessels sailed out of the port in the evening.
Dr. P. Tamilvanan has stated that both the captains of the vessel gave excellent feedback on the facilities available at NMPT and above all the outstanding hospitality extended to the passengers during their short stay at Mangalore.
