Two boys drown while swimming near dam in Kundapur

Kundapur, Dec 1, 2024: In a tragic incident, two boys drowned while swimming near a vented dam in Gummol, Belve, on Sunday afternoon.

The victims, identified as Shreesh Acharya (13), a class 7 student at SRS School, Hebri, and Jayant Naik (14), were local residents.

The boys, along with two friends, had gone swimming near the dam behind Gummol Church. Shreesh slipped into the water, prompting Jayant to jump in to save him. Unfortunately, both drowned.

Locals, alerted by the other boys, launched a search and retrieved the bodies with the assistance of Shankaranarayana police.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
