Two arrested for transporting Narcotics in Auto-Rickshaw in Uppinangady

Uppinangady, August 10, 2024: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Uppinangady police have arrested two young men involved in transporting narcotics in an auto-rickshaw. The operation led to the seizure of the auto-rickshaw and 9.36 grams of the banned substance MDMA.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohammad Nasir (24), a resident of Gadiyar in Kedila village, and Mohammad Asif B. (21), a resident of Enaje Budoli in Peraje village.

The incident occurred on August 9 when Sub-Inspector Avinash H. and his team from the Uppinangady Police Station were conducting routine vehicle checks near Nekkiladi Junction in Nekkiladi village. An approaching auto-rickshaw, upon being signaled to stop for inspection, attempted to evade the police by parking on the roadside, after which the driver and another person attempted to flee the scene.

However, the police swiftly apprehended the suspects and, during the investigation, discovered 9.36 grams of MDMA, valued at Rs.18,720, along with 15 small plastic covers inside the vehicle.

Both the narcotics and the auto-rickshaw have been seized by the police, and the suspects are currently in custody as further investigations continue.
