
Bantwal, December 30, 2025: Bantwal Town Police have arrested a lorry driver and a cleaner in connection with an assault on staff at the Brahmarakutlu toll gate.
The arrested accused are Bharat (23), a lorry driver, and Tejas (26), a cleaner, both residents of Chikkamagaluru.
According to police, in the early hours of December 29, the accused arrived at the Brahmarakutlu toll gate in a lorry, driving in the wrong direction. When toll staff asked them to pay the toll fee, they refused and drove the lorry forward, causing damage to the toll gate. The driver and cleaner then allegedly abused and assaulted toll gate staff Ankit and Rohit.
It is further alleged that the accused later brought two more individuals in a pickup vehicle, illegally entered the toll booth, and again assaulted the staff.
Based on a complaint filed by Prashanth B. (25), a resident of Kasaragod–Mulleria who was serving as the toll in-charge, a case was registered at the Bantwal Town Police Station. Following an investigation, police took the two accused into custody and registered a case against them.
