Two Highway thieves arrested near Yekkur

Mangalore, Oct 2, 2013 :   Two  persons said to be wanted in connection with cases of looting lorry drivers on the highway during night time, have been arrested. Police said they are on the lookout for three others who gave them a slip. The arrests were made near Yekkur after a car in which the  five were travelling, was intercepted.

 

 

Those arrested are  Abdul Salam and Mohammad Sinan, residents of Bajal-Jalligudde. The absconding accused have been identified as Arshad, Naufal and Hussain.The arrested have been identified as Bajal-Jalligudde residents Abdul Salam and Mohammed Sinan while those who escaped are  Hussain, Arshad and Naufal .

The arrested  had reportedly looted a truck driver named Vijay near Tokkottu Kapikad  on September 30, Monday  after brandishing weapons and a fake gun.  The truck  was transporting LPG to Coimbatore.

It is learnt, the car in which they used to travel belonged to a person from BC Road   and was hired by them for Rs 900 per day. Apart from the car, a cash of R s 7500, iron rods etc have been seized from the duo.

It is learnt they were painters by profession. Ullal police have registered a case.
